Miscellany strikes again…..

(1) The table of appointments listing the equivalence of military ranks and civil posts as made available on this blog earlier has further been revised. The updated version is available for download by clicking here.

(2) Readers may like to visit this official White House release of the text of Obama’s speech at a Veterans’ convention. Long, but worth a dekko.

(3) Sgt Gavini, a regular on the blog, has initiated his own web-log focussing on issues concerning veterans and the same can be accessed by clicking here.

Thanks !

thanx navdeep for making avail the US President address to their armed forces. When will our president start caring for us?

As far as the US President's address goes, we cannot expect the same.. nor is it right that we expect the same treatment. It must be understood that the overall security offered to a normal citizen is much more that what we can probably imagine to give to our fellow countrymen.
BUT WHAT WE SHOULD EXPECT AND IS EXPECTED OUT OF ANY CIVILIZED PERSON (LEAVE ALONE THE PRESIDENT AND THE GOVERNMENT ) IS the attitude and the concern which is visibly AUTHENTIC and genuine. Our leaders (which sadly includes the President) just read out what is written by their secretaries. They fail to show any genuine concern. The statements they make have no value as most of the times they are not honoured. Who's fault is it??

The table of appointments, I hope clears the airs of our "Rank Performers". As and when a Brig feels dis-satisfied that he is not equivalent to a JS, can the lower rungs really pick up the towel for a wash. I sincerely wish that it happens in next 25 years.

Commendable efforts of compiling the table of equivalance. It clears many doubts. Can authority of the same be put on blog?

@ Anony above at 10:09 pm

Yes Sir, one can take both home and car loan simultaneously but quantum of loans will depend upon one's net salary (i.e salary minus compulsory deductions like DSOPF contribution, AGIF contribution, Income tax deduction etc)
