A good effort by AFRO

In light of the implementation of the recommendations of the 6th CPC, the Air Force Records Office (AFRO) has brought out a nice booklet which provides a rudimentary bird’s eye view of benefits available to released / discharged / retired personnel.

Though the said guide should not be used as an authority for claiming pensionary or other benefits and is also not technically perfect at places, it definitely provides a good insight into various entitlements.

Besides pensionary and other retiral benefits after the 6th CPC, the said handbook contains information on ECHS, Placement nodes and other welfare related subjects. It also serves as a guide for filling up of pension related forms.

It makes a good reading for personnel of the Army and Navy too since most of the modalities cover all three services.

An e-version of the handbook can be accessed and downloaded by clicking here.

Good News for Pre-2006 Pensioners (Veterans): Veteran Prabhjot Singh Chhatwal PLS Retd.

Dear Veterans,
Regards. There is a good news for pre-2006 pensioners (Veterans) ahead.

As per my personal discussion with Sh. Harbans Singh,Director Pension, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, the Committee(constituted on the instructions from Prime Minister),has submitted its report to Ministry of Defence and
orders relating to Modified Parity in Pension for Pre-2006 Defence Pensioner are likely to be issued
soon. But he was not committed to give any information about the date of issuance of notification.
Pre- 2006 Pensioners are also likely to get disability
pension on percentage basis like Post- 2006 Pensioners. Pre-2006 Hony. N/Subs are also going to
get pension of regular N/Subs. like Post-2006 Hony.N/Subs. We should be very clear about the fact that no Govt. can afford to grant One Rank One Pension
as was demanded in joint Memorandum submitted by a group of organizations on 14th Oct. 2009.
Have a Good day and move forward to a Grand New Year '2010'.

The Navy too had prepared a similar comprehensive doc in 2008, called the 'Sahara Guide'. I have a pdf version available, if anyone can guide me for uploading, would like to share it.
