When do we get to see this here on our land ?

Recently, the Lankan President’s son got commissioned into the Regular Sri Lankan Navy. The pride is evident from this picture below. Also down below is Prince Charles with both his sons in military uniform. Major General Gerald Grosvenor, the 6th Duke of Westminster and the second richest man in the UK after Lakshmi Mittal can also be seen taking a salute. Gen Grosvenor who in recent times retired as a Territorial Army (TA) volunteer was the part time Assistant Chief of Staff (Volunteers and Cadets) prior to his release. The General also had the honour of being the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Mercian & Lancastrian Yeomanry and the Army Air Corps, Colonel of the Canadian Royal Westminster Regiment and Colonel Commandant Yeomanry of the Royal Armoured Corps, all in honorary capacity.

Contrary to popular perception, India has also had its share of royals and political elite in the forces, after independence mostly as TA volunteers but the overall spirit is lacking and we could do with more politicians, members of political families and lawmakers in uniform. Politicians currently on roll of our TA are Maj Manvendra Singh, Barmer MP, Maj DY Sema, a Minister from Nagaland and Brig Sudhir Sawant, former MP and MLC who is currently the part time Deputy Director General (Infantry) of India’s Territorial Army.

Is the young politico brigade in the hearing range ?

All these great leaders have faith in their defence forces. It is great that Srilankan forces have defeated LTTE which we even could't do.

There would be some change when politicians who are clean in thought and actions come to power - and that would happen when every Indian who can vote considers it his solemn duty to do so and votes for someone who can perform - for now its by far only the looting variety that finds itself elected - so as Indians we end up getting what we deserve -

This can happen to our country only when real patriotic and nationalist thoughts inscribed into budding brains of every child of our country. I am not very hopeful that this would happen atleast next one decade because it will take some time to clense our political system. I would like share the word of one of the MLA who sold his one of the farm houses for 28 cr. He said, this amount he would recover in just one year. Now he is looking forward for MP ticket. This is what is our political system.

One gets what he deserves, this is applicable to all walks of life, including governments. You get the government you voted for(deserve). So, don't worry be happy, no use cribbing. Har chiz ka waqt hota hai. waqt se pahle kisi chiz ka hona ya milna mushkil hai. India ka waqt aaega, armed forces ka waqt aaega, wait 'n' watch. Just hope waiting time is less than your life time. Happy waiting.

Dear Navdeep,
I think till the time political will is lacking thing dont move in our great country. And all of us are aware about the govt attitude towards armed forces. Unless the status of Armed forces is elevated, the cream of our society will not get attracted.

These photographs are proofs of high esteem in which Armed forces are held in some of the countries, in this particular case Sri
Lanka and Britain. It is indeed a matter of pride for these nations and a matter of shame for INDIA. It is indicative of the low esteem in which the armed forces are held in INDIA. What ever we do i.e. blow our trumpet regarding our importance, it does not make a difference but reinforce the thinking about non relevance of Armed Forces. The best thing to do is ask for reduction in strength of the forces and let time decide whether AF is a necessity or NOT. If NOT save all the money pumped into maintaining such a huge standing AF and pump in the saved money in some required sector like education or health. So wait and watch.

It is surprising that people become judgemental at drop of a hat, literally speaking, without giving the subject matter at hand due importance or time it deserves. Why are we so hell bent upon tom tomming our own importance. Boss, it's(importace)is like a lady, one doesn't have to say it but still people acknowledge it. So, like a complex mathematical equation solution is found. Look around you, it is evident in nature.

Some of you guys are so scared that that you dont dare mention Pakistan along with Srilanka !And Sanjay we didnt go to Srilanka to fight the LTTE for one though we lost around 3000 soldiers ,but that was one of the biggest political blunders.

Dear Sir

Talking ill of our country is our favourite pastime, this does not, in any way, exclude our great Armed Forces also.

What a pity!

Just because pb4 orders have not been issued, so all concerned are just bashing the country.

Pity,Pity.

Grass is always greener on the other side

Please Wake up all of you. We are not that bad a country. Please be grateful to whatever we are getting.

A food for thought

Bye

Where did you get this weird thought of dispensing with the AF's.The moment you do that you will have the Taliban,Al qaida,LTTE,& variety of Mujahideens moving in to occupy whatever part of the country they can get hold of.All the netas & baboos & the rich will run away to switzerland(where the have 1456 billion US $ looted from public stashed away)leaving the rest of us to live in slavery.

Beautiful pictures. You can see the pride displayed by fathers & sons,in both UK & Sri Lanka cases.Brings tears of joy to to many of us in AF's.It is unfortunate that it can never happen in India.Even people like us,with generations of service in Defence Forces, are not willing to send our wards into Services any more. This sordid state of affairs has been brought in by the Neta- Baboo combine by deliberately degrading our Armed Forces.

Dear Sir

It is our favourite pastime to talk ill our country, this also has become a habit with the Armed Forces nowadays.

Just because the pb4 orders have been delayed, it gives us a good excuse to venture into such subjects.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

What a Pity

When will we ever change?

Bye

i am optimist by nature still i do not see royals or upper bracket fellows ever joining Armed Forces as it has been drained off status and glamour and power it never had . we are non nationalist genetically , thousands of year of history is witness to it and are extrmely myopic in interests. i foresee india fragmenting again in future as the only and true nationalist institution " ARMED FORCES " have been and are being destroyed systematically by politico-babu combination . jis daal pe baithe hain usi ko kaat rahen hain , har shakh pe ullu baitha hai anjaamen gulista kya hoga . very sad feeling

no jai ho .
