Show on military veterans and disabled soldiers on CNN IBN – A must watch!

This has got to be one of the most neutral, concise and detailed documentaries on the subject, which captures the very essence of what has gone wrong.

CNN IBN has beautifully touched upon various topics in a succinct manner thereby rendering a bird’s eye view on the very topical debate on an ‘apolitical military’ as well as the travails of military veterans, martyrs and disabled soldiers.

A must watch for everyone.

VERY GOOD SIR -- VISHNU was JUNIOR TO ME IN THE SAME SQUADRON . JASWANT IS MY COURSE MATE . I retired 33 years ago -- I know BJP WILL NEVER GIVE OROP-- THEY cannot -- IT would be better for EX servicemen to form thier own political force--GOI should have a system of conscription than citizens will realize-WHY was VKS sleeping in SERVICE for us --11 JSW--IC 10129

Great programme by Ms Bhonsle in favour of the veterans.
Regarding downgrading the status of Armed Forces officers in every pay commission- What were the then Chiefs (now ex-servicemen) doing when this damage was being done! How come now they are talking about this issue. Basically post retirement benefits keeps our mouth shut.Where was the accountability towards their command!

how can any military remain apolitical when appointments in higher echelons are made politically.when ex-chiefs look forward to ambassadorship or governerships

maj navdeep, thanks I watched the tv on this blog as I missed original show. Those who read your blog, very well know, there is a long list of legitimate demands of serving and ex-servicemen. In recent cases like, rank pay, disability on premature retirement,DACP, arrears wef jan 2006, court/supreme court holds hand of the soldiers. Ignoring army persons of their legitimate right will further cause heartburn. they have the right to vote to the political party which gives commitment to uphold army persons entitlements in comparison with civilians.

Ex , we can sort out these issues if and only if we as an organisation be ONE and take up these issues... don't look for the next rk or an appt ....

Can some one advise about a law barring any ex-serviceman to join political party. A soldier whether serving or retired is always votes for one or other political party through either postal ballot or personally at polling booth after retirement.

Thanks Ms Bhosale and CNN-IBN for bringing out factual information on comparison of service conditions and benefits between the Civilian employees and Servicemen. Many more such comparisons need to be done.

Thanks Major Sahib, you are doing great service to the suffering soldiers community who are ignored by the political bosses of the nation and pushed to the wall by the bureaucracy. At least you are exposing these injustices to the veterans and helping them. Thank you, once again.

Great job done Major, I am sure deaf and dumb bureaucrates of Indian some time will listen to the voice of Armed Forces.
I hope our General stop stooping to Bureaucrates for fringy benefits of being ambassador or some plum posts and do some thing for the people who made them become Generals by their hard work.

Is there no way to resolve the rank pay case, orop, NFU, etc in one go by getting the Def Min to attend a ' one to one' with the Services

To avoid repetition of history & make our vote count, can someone enlighten us with voting procedure for serving personnel posted away from home for 2014

Dear Sir,
My wife  lady offr is receiving only disability of the pension and no service element. On appeal I has been conveyed by the pedal allahbad that as her disability is is assessed as aggravated by military service , therefore as per  GoI/MoD letter dt 30 Aug 2006 she is not entitled to service element. She is a short service offr from the 3rd course  commissioned in JAG branch in 94 and  released from service in Mar 99 with 30 percent disability due to bronchial asthma. This element also she got after lot of effort and filing an appeal. Is the stand of MOD Correct?
