Notification issued for appointment of Captains and Majors in the IPS through Limited Competitive Examination

The Ministry of Home Affairs has notified rules for recruiting Captains and Majors of the Army, and equivalent from the other two services, into the Indian Police Service from this year onwards through a Limited Competitive Examination.

The examination shall also be open to officers of the State Police Service and Group A Officers of the Central Armed Police Forces from the BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF and SSB with 5 years service.

The rules regarding protection of seniority and pay have not yet been promulgated and even the number of vacancies would be notified later.

The examination shall remain a regular feature as reported earlier on this blog in October 2011.

The maximum age permissible is 35 years as on 01 August 2012 which is further relaxable by 02 years for SC/ST candidates and 01 year for OBC candidates.

The last date for receipt of applications is 01 April 2012 and the application form is expected to be uploaded on the UPSC website today ( www.upsc.gov.in )

Keeping in view the short reaction period, I would request the AG and MS Branches to kindly facilitate the paper-work and formalities on the subject and ensure smooth processing of applications and then the release of affected officers. In fact, officers should be encouraged to apply for and avail this opportunity.

Maj Navdeep,
Can You please throw some light on the eligibility status of released SSCOs since the UPSC instructions makes no mention of it, and if eligible, the application process to be routed from which office for submission of Form to UPSC.

this is one of those now or never opportunity....army must grab it with open hands...i m told...there are approx 120 vacs this yr...army guys are capable enough to pass atleast 100 out of 120...provided org support is there...it ll be win win sit for both army as well as police...army 'll 've a support base of armymen in police and police 'll 've a better trained lot in its cadre...it must be left open to all army offrs who want to appear in the exam..whether reg or short service...once they pass the exam..they can be released...army must org a 30-40 days cadre for all the army applicants to ensure a better success rate

Is this limited exam only for serving army offrs or applicable to released SS offrs?

as per the kamal kumar report...and reports elsewhere in media...the plan is to induct 700 IPS offrs thru this exam over a period of seven years...i.e 100/120 offrs per yr...motivated army offrs with 5 yrs plus service have maximum chances of getting thru this exam...since by now they wud ve done atleast 2/3 army courses ..wud ve been exposed to the various areas in india and some lucky ones even abroad(un msns).thus they wud ve broader horizons than their police nd CAPFs conterparts..hypothetically...even 50% selections wud ensure approx 350 army offrs in police service in various states throughout the india....considering there are 24 state/UT cadres...350/24...ther ll be 15 offrs At the level of ditrict police chief in every state...imagine the implications....police ll ve an honest, well trained, well exposed, highly motivated cadre in their ranks...army ll ve their men at the decision making level in the police .....the coord between army and police will reach unimaginable heights...especially in insurgency/naxalite affected states(considering army is likely to be roped in near future).the benefits of this arng are amazing... excellent rapport between security forces with excellent efficieny and gretly reduced oneupmanship....now the brass tracks....army HQ must seize this opportunity in right spirit..while making efforts to sort out..seniority protection and other issues...give full support to all the spirant offrs irrespec tive of whether they r reg or SS offrs...sending 30-40 offrs to IPS every yr wont incr our deficiency to any dangerous level...but the advntges in long term are numerous...so ms..AG brs for heavens sake dont miss out on this...its gonna be our force multiplier ....wish someone in decisionmaking level in army is hearing this????

Sorry to burst your bubble, but do you honestly feel that the IPS lobby will accept military/CAPF officers with open arms?
There's always a flipside. Look at the IPS officers promoted from State Police Services. They are posted to depts where generally no IPS would prefer to go (traffic, homeguard etc). And the service conditions are such, that the highest appointment they can hold is that of an IG.
The lobby has already shown it's true colours by asking for maj/capt rank officers. This will ensure that no officer will have the requisite seniority to reach DGP/ADGP level.

see what u r saying is ok..to n extent...but look at the positives...once u r part of the system ..u can alwys look for changes..and

Released SSCOs cannot apply for IPS LCE 2012.

1. I have spoken to Under Secretary(examinations), UPSC and the official says that only serving officers may apply.

2. The facilitation counter enquiry operator said the same too.

3. However the anomaly is:-
a. Notfn does not say "ONLY SERVING" offrs to apply.

b. Notfn doesn't mention that released SSCOs cannot apply. ( given the earlier prejudice against SSCOs in the initial report for IPS rectt).

It is still unknown(in writing) about the status of released SSCOs' candidature.

Sorry to burst the Bubble.

Indian Army has lived up to its highest traditions & MS-7 will not be allowing any " PC SERVING " any other officer except those on "SS EXTENSION" TO APPLY.

bcoz " AO 27/1987 " says so !!

HEARD SOMEWHERE " TRY APPLYING " !!

TAKE PRIDE IN THE UNIFORM FRIENDS, HOPEFULLY 33% OF YOU WILL GET THROUGH THE NEXT BOARD !
The rest can live on the pride of serving the mighty nation & offcourse polishing guestrooms & messes !

Only Serving SSC Offr's on extension (completed 5 years) will be allowed to apply for LCE. PC offr's & released SSC Offr's will not be allowed to apply.

However those still interested may try their luck & send the Application Form to MS-7 after getting it signed by their IO only. But expect for it to get rejected by them.

Another instance of the Army shooting itself in the foot.

Anyways, those offr's unhappy with the Army can always send try their luck & send another form to MS-7, that for PMR.

Cheerios.

Well here is another case of fratricide on papers. Sometimes i think i have joined an org where i am bonded slave always. It is evident from the policies, the rules and attitude. PC and released offrs cannot apply for LCE(IPS). LMAO....

12,108 Online Applications..

and another 2700 applications by post..not having internet access.

The applicants just dnt include Police , BSF, CRPF & ITBP...
but a plethora of organzations like BPRDA etc etc...

Lots of guys in mumbai and delhi have even attended classes for 2 months, they were even aware of this likely opening..

but Fauj was very co-operative towards its officers.. ( how , we all know )

Its a gr8 chance lost due to mismanagement, this exam is not like CDS ... someone can give based on GK..
Is tough...hope next year the policy will be clear..so that some people in OGs will go and do the nation proud !

YO's need IPS..
and IPS needs YOs of Fauj !

Jai Hind..

Is anyone planning to appear with this short 15 days notice ??

i would like to bring in notice of all SSC offrs who are planning to give exam;
1. the cut off age to join army is 25 yrs and of CPO and State police Is 28 yrs. With min 5 yrs of service CPO/ police offrs attain age of 33 yrs and have oppotunity to give exam twice with age bar.
2. where as an army offr being 10 yrs now mandatory is at disadvantage as his age will be 34 or 35 when he is eligible,so he is automaticaly written off.Even if regular offr say he joined at age of 21 and board will be held at 15 yrs of service will attain age of 36 yrs ....which make him ineligible if he requiring the QR of being superseeded.
Hence it is recommended that case to be taken up like 22 cases already taken up by state polce offrs and CPO to increase age limit, from army offrs to.
4. all those offrs desirious of joining can even now be party to a case pending at delhi high cout by other cpo offrs. Its not expensive and neither time consuming.
One just need to give a copy of AO and letter of MS7 to advocate, filing case under violation of art 16 violation of righ of equal opportunity.
Only those offrs will be benefitted for next years who are party to case in high court so please expediate your action before too late.
5.Possible fall out will be either the age limit will be enhanced or army will be asked to permit even regular officers to appear in exam.

ANYONE INTERESTED CAN GO TO PRINCIPAL BENCH DELHI HIGH COURT.
STILL BALL IS IN YOUR COURT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.......GUYS.
ALL THE BEST.
