CGDA launches monthly pension statement through email / SMS

CGDA has launched a system of providing monthly pension statements to pensioners drawing their pensions from Defence Pension Disbursing Offices (DPDOs).

Pensioners have to provide minimal details to their DPDOs for receiving their monthly statements through email or SMS.

The format for availing the facility can be accessed by clicking here.

A good step, but what is needed at the earliest is a change in the attitude of those manning these offices. DPDOs remain one of the most user-unfriendly offices mired in complex red-tapism resulting in extreme agony to our pensioners, especially disabled personnel and widows. Even complaints against DPDOs are not promptly attended by their controlling agencies.

Dear Major Sir,
This is a very good information, and good system, provided if it is practically applied. As you have already mentioned the actual functioning of the DPDO, in practice, DPDO functioneries seldom help the veterans and family pensioners. Let us hope , this time they help the veterans by providing the pension payment particulars .

Thank you Sir,
Sgt.S.kanthiah,
Exwel Trust, Tirunelveli-Dist, TN.

I just could not follow this. The banks are already intimating the monthly amount of pension credited in pensioner's bank account by SMS. What more information we can get with the compliance of above ?

Medical Facilities to Non-Pensioners

Medical Facilities to Non-Pensioners

The government is aware of the demand for medical facilities to non-pensioners such as Emergency Commissioned Officers and Short Service Commissioned.

A proposal to make Short Service Commission more attractive has been initiated in which the provision for grant of ECHS facilities to Short Service Commissioned Officers has been included. The above proposal is still under examination.

This information was given by Defence Minister of State for Defence Shri MM Pallam Raju in a written reply to Shrimati Paramjit Kaur Gulshan in Lok Sabha today.

Truly innovative steps initiated towards defence pensioner. However, it is not late towards the right direction and a right step. At least 50% of the Pensioners to know their entitlement.

It is indeed a good step forward. State Bank of India also has extended this facility of Pension Slip and pensioners having Internet Banking accounts may see it well in advance every month. Also old pension slips can be accessed by inputting a few details. But then this is what one gets and the entitlement of exact pension will still be available from PCDA Allahabad. To facilitate this, PCDA Allahabad, therefore, should extend this facility on their website. It will be a great boon for the pensioners residing all over the world.

If you claim to be a portal for all defence personnel and their benefits, It is proper to highlight all the instances in relation to officers as well as PBOR. See the one here http://indianmilitarynews.wordpress.com/2011/08/04/armys-practice-of-soldiers-as-personal-assistants-slammed/

Otherwise, you should mention that your blog is only for officers.

Till now almost all banks are deducting the Income Tax frfom the pension and give Form-16 for compilation. ONLY THE SBI WAS NOT FOLLOWING THIS PROCEDURE.
However, from ther month of June,2011, SBI also is following tds. But It is found that they are doing a rather flimsy job.
Instead of showing pension and IT deduction separately as credit and debits, they are showing the credit as (ACTUAL PENSION-TAX).
There is no procedure followed.
Now I, ta a personal level, approached local SBI Branch and came to know the procedure.
EVERY PENSIONER HAS TO GIVE AN APPLICATION FOR THE AY2012-13, HIS/HER EXPECTED TOTAL PENSION FRO 2012-13, AND HIS SAVINGS EXPECTED,AGE ETC
tHEN THE LOCLA BRANCH WILL UPLOSD THIS INF TO THEIR OFFICE(/) AT mUMBAI.
otherwise they have deducted Rs.2504/for june and july,2011. and will continue that permonth.
The at mumbai are least bothered about the consequences of this wrong entries.
If the bank does'nt show pension correctly as income and do not show the TDS at all(as it happened in my case)it may result in wrong entries in the final Form-16, again to be issued by the branch
SO ALL PENSIONERS WITH SBI, PLEASE CONTACT WITH YOUR BRANCH AND ENSURE CORRECT ENTRIES. OTERWISE, THE BANK WILL CUT A VERY HIGHER TDS and it will be our herculian responsibility to get recovery.from the IT dept.

@Anonymous August 6, 2011:Your comment about the Sahayak issue on this blog post about pensions is so typical of irritating individuals who don't wish to learn the basic courtesies required for interacting in and participating on web forums. This is a classic example of being "Off Topic".

What does"HO No" and "Pension Type" represent in the form ?
2. Is this form required to be given to my bank where my pension is being deposited ? The bank says that they have got no such proceedure.

@ corona8

That means thgis forum is only for greedy officers, who can not accept anything to be discussed reagrding PBORs. It is the same parliamentary committee, on whos points you have delibrating. For your information is in the domain of Srvice Benefits and Issues.

It is too late to start, as the banks have already started this service for Cr/Dr information through SMS. Sorry to say that Suvigya is not working so far, as it does not reflect Group in case of JCO,s OR. Let us see how much SANGAM software, as launched, will be successful. HP Govt, pensioners have been provided very good e-services to its pensioners, by feeding their particulars the can have information about their pensions in details. THANKS
