Disabled
soldiers are again in the news.
It
is heartening to see growing awareness on the subject, especially the invisible
disabilities that one cannot see.
It
is also heartening to see positive statements of the current Raksha Mantri that she is committed to
withdrawing all litigation against disabled soldiers from the Supreme Court.
That
said, these three pieces should be read by all of us:
The
first one is by Ms Ratna Vishwanathan,
a civil servant who has served in the Ministry of Defence. It is ironic that
this comes from a former officer of the civil services.
The

The
